Construction begins on new school for Roe Valley IPS designed to BREEAM Excellent

Education Minister Michelle McIlveen officially cutting the first sod of a new £6.3million build for Roe Valley Integrated Primary School in Limavady. Included are Gayle McIvor, Parent Foundation Governor of Roe ValleyIntegrated PS Board of Governors, Ian Lowry, Lowry Building and Civil Engineering Ltd., Ryan Brolly, chairperson, Roe Valley Integrated Primary School Board of Governors, Julie McDonagh, Principal, Roe Valley Integrated PS, and pupils Conor MacLeish and Eden Mugisha

Education Minister Michelle McIlveen has cut the first sod on the new £6.3m Roe Valley Integrated Primary School (IPS) building in Limavady which will help to create a positive learning environment for young people.

Bennett Freehill is providing mechanical, electrical and sustainability engineering design services, as part of the Hamilton Architects Integrated Consultant Team, on this new modern state of the art 1,550sqm school facility.

The 200 pupil school building will provide 7 classrooms, 2 resource areas, 1 multi-purpose hall and library facility.

Speaking at the new Roe Valley IPS site, Minister McIlveen said:

“This is an exciting day for the whole school community as work gets underway on their brand new school building. The significance of this £6.3million investment will be reflected in the many benefits it will deliver for pupils, families and staff.”

The Minister continued:

“It is important to acknowledge the commitment and hard work of the school and its stakeholders in helping to bring the project to this stage. Today, they can all be proud of this positive step as they look forward to their new school building becoming a reality. I wish everyone at Roe Valley IPS every success for the future.”

The Roe Valley IPS scheme is being funded under the ‘A Fresh Start’ capital programme.

Lowry Building & Civil Engineering Ltd have been appointed to carry out the construction works which are due to complete in late summer 2023.
