The transformative redevelopment of the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen, into a state-of-the-art leisure, health and wellbeing hub represents one of the most significant investments of its kind currently underway in Northern Ireland.
Delivered for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Bennett Freehill is providing Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) engineering services as part of the GRAHAM Construction Design & Build team on the landmark £70 million redevelopment.
Set to become Ireland’s only Passivhaus-certified leisure facility, the development will establish a new benchmark for sustainable, low-energy leisure design. Designed as an inclusive intergenerational facility, the scheme will provide amenities suitable for all ages and abilities.
Located on the banks of the River Erne, the project has been designed to promote health and wellbeing, increase participation in sport and recreation, improve accessibility and inclusion, support environmental sustainability and biodiversity, and strengthen community engagement opportunities.
The development includes an 8-lane 25m swimming pool, learner pool, splash pad, gym and fitness suite, community and multipurpose spaces, soft play and sensory facilities, as well as extensive outdoor amenities including a destination play park, pump track, waterfront activity spaces, and integrated walking and cycling trails. The project will also enhance connectivity between the Forum and Enniskillen town centre as part of the wider regeneration strategy.
