Project Information
Bennett Freehill provided Mechanical and Electrical Engineering design services as part of the significant extension to the existing Nuclear Materials Research Facility (MRF), in Culham Science Centre, to provide increased capability for scientists to process and characterise special material.
The works have doubled the current equipment capacity and enable air-lock truck deliveries to the operational areas.
The extension, designed by Monica Jong (Head of Operations – MRF) will allow for additional industrial and academic research to analyse the effects of irradiation on materials.
The new facility comprises laboratory spaces, clean areas, workshops and office spaces. Specialist air handling plant and chillers are included.
