Preferred Bidder for €27M Future Living Labs Project at ATU Galway

Bennett Freehill has successfully secured preferred bidder status for the Atlantic Technical University’s ground breaking Future Living Labs building – a flagship development designed to serve as both a Living Lab and Sustainability Exemplar.

The ambitious €27 million project will deliver a state-of-the-art 4,100m² facility on the existing Galway Campus, representing a significant investment in next-generation educational infrastructure. This innovative building will focus on three core pillars: Sustainability, Digital Learning, and Interdisciplinary Collaboration.

Once completed, the Future Living Labs will support over 4,500 students across diverse academic disciplines including Business, Engineering, and Computing. The facility’s Living Lab concept means it will function as a real-world testing ground for sustainable technologies and practices, while simultaneously serving as an active learning environment.

This project aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable design and educational excellence. As a sustainability exemplar, the building will showcase cutting-edge environmental technologies and design principles, setting new benchmarks for educational facilities across Ireland.

The interdisciplinary focus of the facility reflects the evolving nature of modern education, where collaboration between different fields of study drives innovation and prepares students for tomorrow’s challenges.

We look forward to working with Atlantic Technical University to bring this visionary project to life, creating a facility that will inspire and educate future generations while advancing sustainable building practices.
