Congratulations to South West College which last month was named winner of the esteemed Beacon Award in the Education for Sustainable Development category!
Often referred to as the ‘Oscars of Further Education,’ the AoC (Association of Colleges) Beacon Awards celebrate excellence across all facets of college operations, and showcase innovation and outstanding practices within the educational sector.
South West College has been recognised with the prestigious Beacon Award for its innovative Climate Action Campaign, a comprehensive initiative strategically designed to embed sustainability principles throughout all aspects of the college’s operations.
Celine McCartan, Principal and Chief Executive Officer, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for South West College and illustrates the time, effort and resource that has been devoted to our sustainability initiatives over the past decade.
With the opening of the world’s largest Passive House Premium rated building, the Erne Campus in 2021, the college’s participation at COP26, the roll out of the Carbon Literacy programme and initiatives such as the walled garden project delivered by our SEN students in Enniskillen, South West College has positioned itself as a champion for sustainable practice; this award is a welcome reflection of that.”
Bennett Freehill is proud to have delivered the MEP design for the prestigious Erne Campus, which continues to establish benchmark standards for sustainable educational facilities worldwide.
