Project Information
CDE’s Global Headquarters in Cookstown was completed in 2017 and remains an exemplary office building today.
The brief was turned into a design concept by local architects ARCEN. The building’s design helps tell CDE’s story of a company that is immersed in the culture of engineering.
Waste reduction is a significant feature of the new headquarters. Rainwater is harvested for flushing toilets, which reduces the demand for disinfected water with its associated chemicals. An air handling system also heats water from the waste energy from the company’s large computer server room. Filtered tap water and coffee machines serve to reduce the quantity of plastic bottles and styrene cups that enter the building and require disposal.
The new offices are centred around an impressive atrium, encouraging interaction between staff and visitors, acting as a crossing and meeting point from the two legs of the building.
